FAA Slaps Chicago Over Midnight Raid On Helpless Airport
Chicago will pay a $33,000 fine for illegally tearing up Meigs Field airport without proper notification. And the city will have to repay $1 million of airport funds that Mayor Richard M. Daley illegally diverted from O'Hare and Midway airports to give to the destruction contractors.

Perrine Memorial Bridge

The Perrine Memorial Bridge over the Snake River Canyon marks
the northern entrance to Twin Falls, Idaho. At 1500 feet in
length, the longest span bridge in the United States' west stands 486 feet above the Snake River.
The Bridge has particular significance for B.A.S.E jumpers as it is possible to jump there every day of the year, legally. With an excellent landing area and the services of a boat crew to retrieve you after each jump, it's B.A.S.E jumping paradise and the perfect place to learn.

The door opens, and the business travelers jump up like Pavlov's dogs. Another Monday, outbound for another client visit. Today was Bangor, Maine for me.
I suppose the people who flew with me today were all thinking about the terrible anniversary in one way or another.
I don't consider myself a good enough writer to put all of my thoughts and opinions into words. Suffice to say I have a wide range of views and emotions about that day and the five years since. My thoughts do turn to the families of the victims and those who have perished in the actions since then. It's not at all clear right now, but I have to think that some good will eventually come from all this. Or maybe I'm confused.
As for me, I do what I can to make flying enjoyable. And since I am grounded in the math and the science and the statistics of it all, I know that nothing the fearmongers say can shake my faith in the safety record of the air transit industry. Indeed, in a chaotic world, it can be the absolute safest place to be.

If The Bad Astronomer Says It's Cool
It really is cool. A few days ago a space probe impacted the Moon's surface, which was caught by a telescope. What can be seen is a plume of dust kicked up by the impact. Really neat.
