It's too bad that Dutch Elm Disease is slowly eliminating these arboreal archways. The last two towns in which I've lived -- Birmingham, MI and Hinsdale, IL -- both had these natural arches of elms trees over the town roads. In Hinsdale, every year I see a half-dozen more of these elms taken out due to Dutch Elm. They're replaced by nice maple trees, but they just can't replace the majesty, the upward reach of an American Elm.

I live in Albany. Those are not Elms they are Live Oaks.
